Biography

Alfonsina Nespolo is an Italo-Argentine artist born in Buenos Aires in 1984.

She has a degree in Visual Arts, specializing in Engraving and Printed Art, from the National University of Art in Buenos Aires (2012). She studied engraving with the artists Eduardo Bernard Levy and Cecilia Widmer.

She paints since she was little and develops her artistic practice towards abstraction and expressionism. The common element to the artist’s production is writing. Over the years, this transformed from a linguistic sign to a graphic expression, from a narrative support to a visual support. A graphic gesture known as the expression of the imagination through the free and relaxed stroke, made with the particularities of the automatic expression that occurs in manual writing.

Alfonsina narrates a story that has not yet been transformed into words, which is found in the plane of the unconscious.

Mother of four children, her works are a poetics of the feminine, the maternal and the childish. A poetics of communication, of words and of silence.

She has exhibited in Argentina, Spain, Italy, France and the United Kingdom.

She lives and works in Italy.
